Overcoming the grief of losing a beloved pet

The last few weeks have been especially hard for my family. In less than a month, we lost three of our pet rats, Daisy, Luna and Peach. All were unexpected deaths that have devastated us. We are now in a healing mode using essential oils, herbs and teas to help ease our grief.

Last night while participating in @theaurahouse free community mediation class, I was able to visit Peach (who my daughter considers her Heart animal). Peach helped me to release the guilt I had with not being there for my daughter, Karen, my Mum's deaths. The guilt of holding Daisy when she passed and I couldn't help her. The guilt of not being able to support and be there when Rose found out she had to put down Luna and Peach.

I felt the words being hurled at me "nurturer", "caregiver", "advocator", "mother", "daughter", "educator" and then "you were all these and more for us and we are thankful. Now it is your turn to heal". The release I felt was enormous, the weight of guilt was lifted.

So now I turn to what I know best, my essential oils and herbs to help me heal. In my diffuser, I am using a blend of Ylang Ylang ( I love the floral scent and it reminds me of walking through flower gardens on a warm day), Clary Sage (which has a way to de-stress me with one sniff) and Bergamot (for its uplifting, delicate citrus aroma). In my fancy teacup, I am enjoying a hot drink of Chamomile flowers while playing with our new babies.

To Ingest or not to Ingest?

Is it safe to ingest is the number one question I receive from my clients. It is also the number one question debated by essential oils...
